The TCR concept was launched in 2014 to increase the level of touring car racing worldwide. Featuring production saloons powered by 1.75 - 2-litre turbocharged engines, cars are built by manufacturer-approved constructors to comply with carefully controlled technical regulations and FIA homologation.

TCR racing is now held in over 30 countries. In the UK, the concept was first introduced in 2018. It will be reintroduced in 2021 by a new administration. The TCR racing series has established itself as a highly competitive and high-profile national championship. It has attracted more spectators than any other race series with a similar status, and top drivers and teams.

TCR UK will build on the successes of the previous season and offer more benefits to drivers and teams in 2022. It will feature a full calendar of events at the UK's top circuits, increased public and media exposure, larger grids, and closer racing.
