The Philippines is an archipelago of 7000 islands located in Southeast Asia. It is home to some of the world's most beautiful biodiversity landscapes. In the early 1500s, the Philippines was colonized by Spain. Later, it became part of the American colonies until the Second World War. The country gained independence on 4th July 1946. Today, the Philippines is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The national flower of the Philippines is Jasminum Sambac, commonly known as Sampaguita.
