I followed your instructions, found a show, set up VPN, clicked watch now, then it brought me to the shows page and I couldn't find a play button. all I found is info about the show, a picture of the show, a set reminder button, and a more like this section. so I can't actually watch the shows.
I tried hitting watch now in a county I knew didn't have the show and it just brings me to netflex's home page so I know its not just blocking the show. I also tried a show avalable in my country and the VPN's country and it brought me to the title page like but still no play button.

Netflix are constantly evolving their restrictions unfortunately, you just need to work with your VPN provider as they sort things out.

@storm might seem obvious, but I was having problems watching from my phone. Turning off my location seems to have fixed it.
